Abstract
This thesis proposes a design of a portal that technical facility managers at Vasakronan can use in their daily work. The suggested portal, which is a minimum viable product (MVP), is derived from qualitative research of the intended users’ everyday work which consists of indoor climate controlling, facility optimization concerning energy consumption and managing tenants relationships. In aiming to suggest a design solution that is found useful and intuitive by the intended users, this study is based on theories within the fields of User-Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction and Contextual Design. By conducting interviews and observational studies, some user needs and requirements were identified and used to construct the portal’s design. Some of the user requirements were to obtain a holistic view, to assist the work structure, support proactive work, enable customization among tools provided, gain easy access to various automatic control systems, facilitate information creation and retention as well as aiding knowledge sharing. The methods that have been applied to design the proposition follow the double-diamond model as well as the test driven design process. Hence, this study has taken an iterative approach as to discover, define, develop and deliver the design solution through accumulated input from and about the users.
