Abstract

In an increasingly environmentally aware world, companies areinfluenced by sustainability thinking and there is much talk aboutcertifications, reporting requirements, and environmental work. Meanwhile,projects have become a common way to conduct businesses, however, withoutsignificant environmental consideration in the project process. By usingchange management in corporate culture and organizational behavior, weexamine how a process of implementation of new approaches and methods maylook like and how the new work method affects its users.This thesis deals with the subject where environmental and sustainabilitythinking is incorporated in project management. Our ambition is that theresults will lead to greater understanding and awareness in companies andeventually be developed and fully utilized. The conclusions first present thechanges needed to be done in the organization and its culture and then someconcrete steps to take towards more eco-friendly project management methodstogether with proposals for reporting. Because the subject is in thedevelopment phase, this is a preliminary study and an introduction to a moresustainable project management. Finally the conclusions present suggestionsfor further studies to get deeper understanding in the field.
